Poem 135:

The Heart & Soul

——————–

Part I: Beginnings

Who am I to touch the heart and soul
of a gentle mind, with feelings grand and small?

Yet each day we do with ever a twist
as we travel along our way,
take a chance to discover
what it is, that we may

Some have come to work,
yet know not the way
others seek life in shadows,
the dark is their day

Another sits in an autumn morn
seeks out the best
of so many now at rest

The snow with a gentle flow
reaches down to the very soul
of spirits that weep, some quite asleep
but in the end, these gentle flakes are but a test

Each of us seek to but find a way
to extend our stay if we must
this life’s audition, a final test
before we receive eternal rest

Part II: Forever at my side

Who am I to touch the heart and soul
of a gentle mind, with feelings grand and small?

Yet each day we do with ever a twist
as we travel along the way

Who am I to touch the heart and soul
of all who wander the mountain path
of one who chose to travel by my side,
with so very, very far to go?

To such a friend, thank you
until our journey shall find its end.
Your love kept me warm
amidst the rain and storm

You chose to walk with me
in autumn days and winter storms
never, never left my side
when so many might have cried

The rising sun reveals her face,
with joy our path concludes its solitude
to walk in holy spheres
in days that shall not end

Along the mountain pass
with her many streams
your greatest love
was the choice you made
to forever wear our wedding ring,
stand at my side

Thank you again, my dearest friend
